The Ned Kelly Trail Ned Kelly, hero or villain, a question that for many will never be answered.

This two day combination of self-drive and a guided tour is a great way to explore the Ned Kelly Trail.

Take the opportunity to see the sights and places that have led to the Ned Kelly story.

Day One:

Travelling from Melbourne there are stops at:

  • Beveridge - The Kelly home and school.
  • Avenel - where you will find the grave of John “Red” Kelly Ned’s father, and this is also where his bravery was awarded the “green sash” for saving the life of the young Shelton boy.
  • Benalla – a guided town tour of the Ned Kelly sites, including the Kelly and Costume Museum and Joe Byrnes grave.

Enjoy an overnight stay in Benalla -  this is a chance to reflect on Day one and prepare for Day two

Day Two:

  • Glenrowan – wander the siege site and explore the Glenrowan Township.
  • Visit Ned Kelly’s grave at Greta where he has been laid to rest with his mother.
  • Travel to Mansfield where the Police memorial and graves where the Police Officers have been laid to rest.
  • You may choose to make your way to Melbourne through the Yarra Valley a very scenic drive.

Optional:

Stay an extra night in Benalla and include Beechworth and the Kelly Tree site.
